Jennifer seeks to help students further their asana practices through gentleadjustments and attention to proper body mechanics. Jennifer’s interest in yoga began in 1998 when a friend recommended BKS Iyengar’s book, Light on Yoga. Soon after, she took her first group classes in Rochester, NY with an Iyengar certified teacher. In 2004, she moved to Southwest Florida. Searching for another teacher, she tried a variety of yoga styles, including Ashtanga, Sivananda and Kripalu. Finally in 2006, she found Lynn and Yoga from the Heart. Her journey has come full circle, bringing her back to an Iyengar influenced alignment based yoga. She has spent the last year faithfully attending classes and workshops at YftH and is currently teaching five classes.
Steve Lang
Yoga, who would have thought it? Certainly no one who is familiar with Steve’spersonal and professional history. Athletically, his fitness experience included high impact, high intensity workouts, while his career track: high tech / high pressure were equally as demanding and intense.
Steve’s introduction to yoga occurred at a time in his life, when life as he knew it was changing beyond his wildest dreams. His dear friend John’s simple suggestion to “breathe” was the key that unlocked the door to Steve’s yogic journey and his continued commitment to personal growth.
Steve is a Registered Yoga Teacher RYT 200 who is grateful for and influenced by the teachings of B.K.S Iyengar. Steve is the type of instructor who enjoys endurance, strength and flexibility sequences, always reminding his students to come back to the power and peace of the breath.
Kate Wallace
Kate Wallace has lived in Sarasota since 1983. She graduated from high school here, and then went on to earn a bachelor's degree in sociology at Wake Forest University and a law degree at the University of Florida. She has practiced law in the Sarasota-Bradenton area since 1999.
Kate started practicing yoga in 2000, when she happened to take a class at a gym in St. Petersburg. Practicing law is a stressful job, so yoga quickly became crucial in helping her find relaxation in the courtroom, in the yoga studio, and in everyday life. After moving back to Sarasota, Kate tried many yoga studios and yoga gym classes, but nothing spoke to her until she met Lynn in 2002. The structured yet joyful nature of Iyengar yoga, and Lynn's balanced approach to teaching and practicing, inspired Kate to join Yoga from the Heart’s teacher training program in 2007. “Teacher training is a lot of hard work, but it is so much fun!” comments Kate.
Kate hopes to start teaching at Yoga From the Heart soon after completing teacher training. She is currently attending and assisting in many of Lynn's classes. Kate also looks forward to studying with Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden and Barbara Benagh at Yoga Journal's annual conference in Estes Park in September 2007.
