3rd Quarter Yoga Workshops: July through August 2010.
Understanding the Energy Systems of the Human Body
The tradition of yoga is an extraordinarily deep and powerful practice. The chakras are one of the most important tools used for transformation in yoga. Chakra means “nerve center.” These nerve centers are aggregates of prana (life force). Understanding how to work with the chakras can help put you more in touch with your inner Self. Through lecture and practical exercises you will gain an expanded awareness of who and what you are, and how to work effectively with energy. This workshop is a “must” for those on the path to wholeness, inner peace, and ultimate freedom.

Slow Flow Vinyasa
Vinyasa is supposed to be fast, right? Not necessarily. One of the pitfalls of vinyasa practice is rushing through a series of poses without taking the time to correctly establish any one pose. This workshop is vinyasa but not in the traditional sense. You’ll work into poses and hold them for some time with vinyasa between them. We think this way of practicing vinyasa is actually more challenging than the fast flow being taught at the gyms. Slow down your vinyasa and savor the experience. Students with yoga experience and an understanding of healthy alignment are welcome to this challenging yet deeply profound workshop.

Wisdom of the Sages
While most of us think of yoga as postures and breathing exercises, these physical practices are only part of a vast and ancient science. For more than three millennia, yoga sages systematically explored the essential questions of our human existence. For modern yoga students, this workshop will be a guide to the teachings of the yoga wisdom tradition. Based on the works of ancient texts, we will look at the profound gifts that yoga offers and how it can be applied to our lives as we confront careers, relationships, and life transitions. From learning to overcome fear and anger to deciding whether to have a second helping of ice cream, the awareness that yoga cultivates can improve our lives in many practical and life changing ways.
