Daily meditation can bring clarity, health, balance and inner peace. This workshop will guide you through a unique program of yoga poses to open the hips and prepare the body for meditation, the practice of silencing the mind to instill a sense of calm and lasting contentment. Chanting will also be included as a way to focus and center.
Shoulderstand has been regarded as the mother of all poses because of its calming effect on the mind. Headstand, regarded as the father of all poses, can leave you in a place of inner balance. In this workshop we will cultivate strength, opening, and stability for the practice of these two inversions. A series of safe, gentle inversions alternatives will be offered to accommodate neck and shoulder injuries.
Back to Basics: Backbends

Even if you’re not aware of it, your back yearns to stretch up, out and over backward. These stretches don’t have to be the full-blown backbends of gymnasts; even the simplest backward-bending stretches relieve discomfort and align and strengthen the spine as well as open the heart. We will review the basic actions involved in backbends and practice these poses in a healthy, no-pain producing way.
